The problem though is that Adobe Reader, the free software used for viewing this format does not allow neither editing nor conversion. So converting your document to PDF will always give an air of professionalism. The PDF (portable document format) is now a universally accepted medium for digital documents. Re-sending a document because of format incompatibility might prove embarrassing if not catastrophic in some instances. We sometimes need to send over document files and make sure they can be properly read on the other side.
